Mobility and Orientation
Mobility and Orientation training, aims to give visually impaired students the skills to move around their environment efficiently and safely, and as independently as possible.
Our mobility curriculum encompasses early developmental programmes for more profoundly disabled students to suit their individual needs.
The environment is multi-sensory and stimulating and has been created to suit the needs of the students moving around in it whether they are ambulant or wheelchair users.
We have a purpose built mobility circuit with diverse tactile paving, working ‘pelican’ crossing, telephone box and street furniture.
Students can develop long cane/mobility skills in a quiet, controlled environment before transferring these skills within the local environment.
